Buttermilk Pie

An extreme close up of a Southern favorite, a slice of chess buttermilk pie with a generous portion of whipped cream.

1 9-inch pie crust, unbaked
3 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a medium bowl, beat together butter and sugar with an electric mixer on medium until light and fluffy. Add the flour and eggs and mix to combine.
Mix in the buttermilk, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla, and mix until thoroughly incorporated.
Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake until center is set and top is browned, about 45 minutes. Let cool completely before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
